Accutane
Accutane (isotretinoin) is a medication used for the treatment of severe acne that did not respond to other treatments. Before you will be able to take this medicine a number of aspects of you treatment will need to be discussed. To prevent a pregnancy you will need to use at least 2 reliable contraception methods one month before the treatment, during it, and one month after you have taken the last dose. A negative pregnancy test will be required before you will be given a prescription. The following medical conditions are to be reported to your health care provider before the treatment is started: diabetes, liver disease, heart disease, depression, and asthma. They can affect the dose you are prescribed or require close monitoring of your progress. There is no need to report to your doctor any of the following mild side effects in case you experience them: dry skin and lips, peeling skin on palms and soles, nosebleeds, fragile skin, dry eyes, itching, thinning hair, vision problems, increased sun sensitivity, rash, red eyes, or bleeding gums, as they are most likely to go away on their own. If you also have to take oral steroids, medications for seizures, tetracycline antibiotics, or vitamin A supplements, make sure your health care provider is aware of that fact. The drugs mentioned have been reported to cause interactions with Accutane, which may affect the quality of your treatment.
